Welcome to the home of Traditions TM

About Us
Hec and Ingrid Ramsay are artisans based in Oamaru, North Otago. With many years of woodworking experience they acquired the business of Traditions from Jean-Pierre Ribotton in 2004 and are committed to producing the finest handcrafted gifts styled in a combination of native New Zealand timbers and brass.
Our Materials
We predominantly use Rimu and recycled Rimu for its durability, strength, colour and character. Each piece is carefully crafted and assembled by hand to enhance each unique design and reveal the very best character of the timber.
The finish is stained to preserve the wood and maintain its colour vitality and warmth.
Our Products

Our products include tranquillity chimes which produce beautiful soft sounds designed to create feelings of peace and harmony and are styled in recycled rimu with brass emblems and powder coated aluminium chimes, to combat the out door environment

We also have a range of decorative wind spirals which look spectacular spinning in the breeze adding colour and harmony to any garden or patio area. These spirals are presented in flattened form complete with assembly instructions and make ideal gifts for posting.
To complete our present product line up, we have a miniature domino set with exquisite brass pieces and beautifully presented in a rimu box and also a complete Kalah board game. Kalah is a challenging strategy based board game.
Coming Soon

Early in 2005 we intend to introduce a rimu trivet with brass fittings and a rimu business card holder. These make ideal gift items for people who appreciate the warmth and finish of genuine handcrafted Rimu.

Latter in 2005 we will be bringing further game and puzzles from a bygone era that will test the skills of all ages.

During the year, from our Oamaru workshop we will be introducing a Rimu with leather straps suitcase holder designed for the discerning home owner or Hotel that will highlight any guest room.
